VICTORY FOR CONTRACTORS IN OLYMPIA:
GOVERNOR SIGNS NUCA’s VENUE BILL

Pictured are: Governor Jay Inslee, State Representative Jay Rodne, State Representative Laurie Jinkins and NUCA of Washington Legislative Committee Members, Mark Scoccolo, Mike Pelliterri and Lobbyist David Ducharme

On Wednesday, April 29, 2015, Governor Jay Inslee signed into law HB 1601. HB 1601, the venue bill, helps level the playing field in construction contracts with counties throughout the state. HB 1601 allows contractors to sue a county in either that county or one of the two nearest counties. This legislation helps provide an impartial forum for contractors, and promotes fairness. The significant work that led to the passing of this legislation was spearheaded by NUCA of Washington, with support from the AGC of Washington.

Bob Marconi is the chair of NUCA of Washington’s Legislative Committee.
